5 Steps For Refreshing Your Personal Brand In 2023

Now we are halfway through the year, it’s an ideal time to reassess your personal brand and make any changes. Your brand shows people what makes you unique and why they should do business with you.

A lot can change in six months. To make sure that your brand is still distinct and memorable, here are five steps you can take to give it a refresh (major or minor).

Step 1: Re-evaluate Your Progress To Date

The first step is to get honest about how much you have achieved over the past 6 –12 months. How many of your goals have you achieved? Have any changed? Re-evaluate where you want to be by the end of the year – and in five years. From there, map out the steps that need to be taken to achieve those revised goals. Keep your strengths in mind when revising or setting your goals to make them reasonable and achievable.

Step 2: Decide Whether Training Is Necessary

Often, when we set new goals, we realise we need to gain a new skill in order to achieve them. Ultimately, regardless of your reasons for wanting to learn, extra knowledge will always benefit you. If you have limited time and budget available, prioritise training in areas that offer the most short-term benefits. From there, you can fit in additional learning that will benefit you over the long term.

Step 3: Connect

One of the best ways to refresh your personal brand is to connect with like-minded individuals. This could be in the form of a mentor or networking groups in your area or online. Connecting with other professionals opens the door to new opportunities and can inspire you to make additional and necessary changes to your personal brand.

Step 4: Ask For Feedback

Unsure about whether the changes you are considering make sense? Ask for feedback from other professionals you trust. Better yet, ask an experienced professional in your industry for honest feedback about your goals and whether they feel you are taking the right approach. Just remember to use discretion – you don’t need to implement every bit of feedback you receive. Another great way to get feedback is to ask your existing clients! Find out exactly what is working, where you can improve, or if there is anything missing from your current offerings.

Step 5: Find A Good Balance

Personal brands are not just about the work you do and the clients you help, it’s also about you as a person. To hone your personal brand, it’s important to find a good balance between work and other interests outside of work. Plus, when it comes to creating your brand story, it’s important to include your passions and interests if you want to create a more personalised story. I love it when clients want to include something about their hobbies in a brand shoot.

With these five steps, you can re-evaluate and refresh your brand with a firmer, more structured foundation, ensuring you get closer to achieving each of your goals for 2023, and beyond!
